A python module to graph data in a smooth, continuous line. It is ideal for the type of visualizations that show trends or changes over time. The crackflowjo python module is a better version of the popular flowjo software that has been used in labs all around the world. Developed for Python and IPython, it provides a simple interface to connect and plot data from cytometers and flow cells with no need to find and install additional packages or drivers on your computer. It offers features such as: 1) Full compatibility with FlowJo: if you have existing scripts using FlowJo then they will also work with this module. 2) Better performance. 3) It can be used in Python scripts and in IPython notebooks. 4) Graphs drawing is based on matplotlib, an extremely powerful and flexible toolbox for 2D and 3D graphs that is also used by the Python scientific community. > from crackflowjo import FlowJo> flowjo = FlowJo() # create instance of crackflowjo module with default values> flow = flowjo.read_flowcell(filename='example_diagnostics_files/testfile') # read a file from disk with cytometry data> flow1 = flowjo. read_flowcell(filename='example_diagnostics_files/testfile1') > flow2 = flowjo.read_flowcell(filename='example_diagnostics_files/testfile2') > flow3 = flowjo.read_flowcell(filename='example_diagnostics_files/testfile3') > flow = flow1 + flow2 # add flows together as numpy arrays to create new flow The above example shows the essential features of the crackflowjo module: You can then display the graphs with:The crackflowjo package is currently under development and currently available by cloning this git repository: https://github. com/alainmarmur/crackflowjo You can also install it with:A short presentation with a quick introduction to the crackflowjo package was given at the 2013 Cytometry Summit by Alain Marmur (https://github.com/alainmarmur). A recording is also available here: http://www.cytojournal.com/media/8729#sthash.zTzUYDQw.dpufThe formats supported are FlowCytometry Standard (FCS files), Forma (FPR files), Extended Format (FX files) and Luminex (XLR) . The cytometry package is available on PyPI. The current version is 0.2.0 and its documentation can be found here: http://packages.python.org/crackflowjo/docs/The source code of the module can be found at https://github.com/alainmarmur/crackflowjo where you will also find more examples, extra features and links to the FlowJo software itselfIn order to get started with flow cytometry you need a computer with a decent amount of RAM (8GB or more) and a good graphic card with a lot of video memory (2GB or more). cfa1e77820
